CanMake Stay-On Balm Rouge (01-Rosier Rose) Review

Hi everyone! So here I am again with a CanMake related post! Today I shall be doing a review on their Stay-on Balm Rouge. As the title implies, this shade I have is in 01 or in Rosier Rose.

So I would not call this product a lipstick but rather a colored lip balm. For one, it's because the product looks like a lip balm in terms of packaging and appearance, and texture wise, it's a bit too thick to be called a lipstick.

As the photo implies I got this for 72 HKD (396 pesos) from SaSa in Hong Kong, and this can also be bought here in the Philippines but for a slightly higher price of 450...

This series comes in four shades, with this one being an old rose kind of shade. The other three shades are orange brown, red, and nude.

Comfort wise this is one of the most comfortable colored lip balms out there because it feels really moist an all, and that it can really help to ease my eternally dry and chapped lips. It's also good for those who hate scented items because this is one of the few lip balms that comes unscented...

However, in terms of longevity, this does not last on my lips for more than an hour assuming I do not drink water or sing or use my mouth a lot. For busier days I'd need to re-apply almost every half hour just to keep the color intact. However, if you're more on just wanting to have a sheer tint of color on the lips, there'd still be enough remaining product on the lips after two hours if you're just after lip care.

The product claims to have a UV shield so I think it's a good thing. Too bad UV shields are things that can't be felt though...

I have yet to try one of CanMake's lipsticks to compare how this fares... But I think that it's a good product given that it's CanMake and that it's made in Japan...

At first glance, the color looks really wine-ish, and actually, that is kinda true... It's kind of a wine color with pinkish undertones...

When swatched on the skin, this is how it looks like...

Here is a photo of my lips before applying the product. Even if I apply lip balm everyday this is how my lips look because I really do have an eternally bad case of dry lips. My dad is also the same so I am no longer wondering why or how my lips get to be like this...

This is immediately after application. This color does not oxidize or change to adapt to the skin and this is it already. What I like though is that even when zoomed in, it does a good job in covering the dry patches on my lips and gives a nice healthy glow to them. Many of the other lip products I've tried tend to emphasize the dry skin further, or some have too dry a formula that instead of moistening the skin the product just dry-ly slides over the flaps of dead skin on my lips.

Value for money wise, I'd say that this is quite an expensive lip balm if you are only going to evaluate it as a lip balm. But for something that provides comfort and adequate lip color, this is already a so-so product. However, this will not be worth your money if you're looking for products that need no re-application for the whole day (like eight hours or so). If you, like me, constantly need lip moisture, this product is worth the money though.
For those who are interested to buy this, CanMake doesn't have a store yet but this product can be bought online at BDJ Box Shop (online), GlamourboxPH, Digital Traincase (but in the flesh only and not online) in Ortigas, Somera in Glorietta 2, and perhaps a few other locations they have yet to reveal...

So that ends my review for this colored lip balm. Do you prefer lipstick or colored lip balm? Please do tell me in the comments box!!!
