My First Charis Try Me Haul

Weeeee!!!! It's so exciting to get blogger mail more so when the box is loaded with so many Korean goodies! I signed up for Charis a few months back and waited for the new wave of Try Me products to start again. I finally got some products and so here they are! This is my unboxing video here.

For those who are curious, Charis is an online e commerce website that brings the hottest and most premium K-Beauty products to all over Asia. They are not necessarily in the mainstream per se, and you won't see the usual K-Beauty brands we think of. Instead, they partner with a lot of up and coming Korean brands, or brands that are doing very well in Korea but still not with an international footing, in order to highlight their brands in the Asian scene. You can check out what's going on right here!

Silka Shea Back in Sample Room!

Get ready, roommates, Silka Shea is back in da haus (da haus talaga kasi intense ito)!!! Grab a sample now in Sample Room! Get your fill of Silka Shea lotion for 50 points to get a 100mL bottle, and the Silka Shea bar soap for 15 points to get a 90g bar. Consequently, the Silka SPF 30 White Papaya Lotion has also been generously restocked on the website.

In order to equip the roommates with #SkinYouLove, Sample Room sent over such a gracious collaboration box with Silka featuring a crate like packaging and a good amount of soaps and lotions. I have personally not tried Silka lotions before this, but I have much praises to sing about the bar soap. As you may or may not have known, I took a university swim class three years ago. And I didn't invest in a good body sunscreen, hence having a body 3 tones darker than my face at the end of the semester, not to mention all the tan lines. I was on papaya soaps for half a year to bring back the evenness to my skin, and Silka has been among my favorite brands because I really did feel that I was legitimately evening out after two to three weeks. I also had a difficulty using other brands at the time because a lot of the papaya soaps use papaya fragrances that just offended my nose and made me dizzy. Silka was among the few brands that had a natural papaya fragrance that could actually count as fragrant, hence I stuck to the green papaya variant for dear life.

Looking back I wish I had taken photos to show that because if I could personally feel it, then there really are merits to the whitening prowess of Silka.

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation Review

Yeahp, it's true. It's a dream come true. I honestly thought that Dream Velvet was just a name, but when I used the product, I realized that it is indeed a dream come true. It's a fluffy, dreamy foundation. But more than that, I think this will make a lot of people's skin goals come true. I usually do very detailed product shots, but I felt compelled to talk about this because this really is something that I have a condensed blog post for today.

Beauty News: Maybelline Dream Velvet Hydrating Foundation is Here!!!

Manila 2016 – Been dreaming of velvet-smooth perfection that stays comfortable on skin all day when you live in a hot and humid country like ours? From the world’s no. 1 makeup brand, Maybelline New York, refresh your makeup routine and never have to worry about oily face again with Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation – Maybelline‘s first-ever hydrating matte foundation for 100% velvet-smooth perfected skin all day. Yup, you heard the two best words any beauty junkie wishes to hear: matte and hydrating!

“There are foundations that leave skin dry, rough, and too tight on skin when it’s matte finish, which can be a total nightmare for girls and finding the perfect foundation can be such a hassle,” shares Sandy Tiu, Senior Product Manager of Maybelline New York. “These struggles are precisely what Maybelline’s newest Dream Velvet Foundation targets. It glides easily on skin and gives a velvety smooth finish as exactly promised by the name, and it has a soft-matte feel that makes you feel like you’re not wearing any foundation.”

So what’s the secret behind this dream-like makeup innovation even for all skin types? Soft, matte, and hydrating enough for drier skin types, Dream Velvet maintains moisture from the skin yet it’s matte and lightly hydrating as well for oily skin types – curbing shine while still providing only the right amount of moisture that won’t make you look oily or greasy. The unique gel-whipped formula infused in the soft matte hydrating foundation makes Dream Velvet ultra-lightweight and keeps the skin hydrated all throughout the day!

Maybelline Creamy Mattes Brown Nudes Roundup Review and Swatches

Maybelline Philippines Creamy Mattes Swatches

It's the lipstick review everyone has been waiting for, so here goes!

Say hello to Maybelline Creamy Mattes Brown Nudes collection, Maybelline's newest lip release. I never thought that after Rosy Mattes and Lip Flush that their lip game could get any stronger but then they surprise everybody with this collection. Sales have been super crazy and these are selling like hotcakes everywhere. In any major Maybelline counter, you would see beauty advisers answer queries about these almost all day long, and testers get used up so fast as everyone just wants to hoard this collection. I am sure the beauty advisers are already dreaming of these lipsticks hahaha.

They are of course reviving a 90's trend for one, but honestly, I feel that this is beyond just reviving a trend. This whole collection from Maybelline is all about providing a sophisticated color selection for those with deeper skintones. Most of the shades have reddish undertones, hence providing a balanced collection of reddish browns, making them the perfect lippies for any occasion for most Pinays. This is also a highly acclaimed collection even before the release of this color family as this is their collection that boasts extreme comfort and an extremely buttery texture, sure to give any consumer a luxurious experience.

Maybelline Creamy Mattes Brown Nudes (696-Burgundy Blush) Review and Swatches

Maybelline Philippines Creamy Mattes 696 Burgundy Blush Review and Swatches

It's the lipstick review everyone has been waiting for, so here goes!

Say hello to Maybelline Creamy Mattes Brown Nudes collection, Maybelline's newest lip release. This whole collection from Maybelline is all about providing a sophisticated color selection for those with deeper skintones. Most of the shades have reddish undertones, making them the perfect lippies for any occasion for most Pinays. And as such, let's get started with this review.

This shade is Burgundy Blush, or 696.

I like that they have this number scheme going on because you would really see the progression in hue and undertone from one number to the next.

This, I would say, is the one loaded with the most brown and red pigments for it to reach the vampyness that it is.

In terms of packaging, it comes in a silver/metal body with a transparent frosted brown case. It is square like all other Maybelline lippies as of late. I honestly like this style because it's so annoying whenever a round lipstick keeps on rolling off onto different places it isn't supposed to roll onto.

For the concerned folks out there, these are the ingredients. This collection is not merely about trendy brown shades, but more of it's about a collection that is super comfortable, buttery, and creamy. Notable ingredients include sesame oil, dimethicone (skin soother), beeswax, and honey.

Maybelline Creamy Mattes Brown Nudes (660-Touch of Spice) Review and Swatches

Maybelline Philippines Creamy Mattes 660 Touch Of Spice Review and Swatches

It's the lipstick review everyone has been waiting for, so here goes!

This shade is Touch of Spice, or 660.

I like that they have this number scheme going on because you would really see the progression in hue and undertone from one number to the next.

This, I would say, is the mother of the collection. This is not that brown, nor is it nude (it's actually a brownish mauve), but this is really what gave people a taste of the brown lip trend. This was sold out for so long in so many stores that this is a highly coveted shade. This is also the shade that I think gave the brand managers the idea to do the brown lip collection.

Maybelline Creamy Mattes Brown Nudes (657-Nude Nuance) Review and Swatches

This shade is Nude Nuance, or 657.

I like that they have this number scheme going on because you would really see the progression in hue and undertone from one number to the next.

This, I would say, is the true brown in this collection. This is actually the brownest one, but still down to earth with a touch of earth red tones. I say down to earth because this is not purely brown so this will still be useful even when the brown craze is over. This shade has sold out in so many Maybelline outlets because this is what Georgina Wilson wore in the ad.

This shade is Clay Crush, or 656.

I like that they have this number scheme going on because you would really see the progression in hue and undertone from one number to the next.

This, I would say, is when you add clay to 650. Like it's too light to look like earthenware (aka palayok), but you can still feel the earthy tones to it. This shade is particularly selling so well because this is Liza Soberano's favorite shade as of late.

This shade is Daringly Nude, or 655.

I like that they have this number scheme going on because you would really see the progression in hue and undertone from one number to the next.

This, I would say, is what will happen when one mixes foundation with a tiny touch of pink.

This shade is Nude Embrace, or 650.

I like that they have this number scheme going on because you would really see the progression in hue and undertone from one number to the next.

This, I would say, is the neutral base the collection is hinged on. Everything else is either darker, redder, browner, or all three, compared to this one.

#BloggerXSME 1: Why Should My Business Work With Bloggers?

I want to kick off September with a new blog series, and here it is!!! I've long been asked by business owner friends and relatives about the whole world of blogging, and I've long wanted to do something like this to address that, so here we go. With my #BloggerXSME series, I plan to tackle the usual questions and issues that small to medium enterprise (SME) business owners encounter when working with bloggers. Those who know me in real life know that I took up management so they ask me a lot about PR consultancy and marketing and the like, and I thought I'd make the knowledge I have for public consumption. If you'd like to hire me though for more specific stuff, hit me up with an e-mail.

#PanteneXCosmo at Cosmopolitan Beauty Block (Aug. 27, 2016)

Cosmopolitan wanted to treat its Cosmo Girls to a fun filled afternoon that's all about beauty, so they created the Cosmo Beauty Block and had it done at the SM Mega Fashion hall. Pantene was the co presenter, and since they had a lot (as in A LOT) of activities that day, they invited me over to join in on the fun!
