Avène Skin Recovery Cream (Crème Peaux Intolérantes) Review

Packaging and Scent: This comes in a basic, no frills tube. What's nice though is that they adopted a new DEFI dispensing method, which basically makes it impossible for a user to return any product back into the tube, whether intentionally or through everyday usage of the tube. This is to ensure that the product's integrity is intact and untainted for as long as possible. This has a very very very light powdery floral fragrance, but I will emphasize that the smell is very faint. If you're the kind of person who hates fragrances, this is faint enough to not be distracting. This cream is hypoallergenic, so the fragrance should pose no problem even for those who are sensitive.

Product Texture: This has a lightweight moist texture. It's not velvety nor satiny, it's really moist. Skin feels a bit cool as this is being applied as it feels hydrated. But, this is very lightweight, so it doesn't feel sticky or greasy to the touch. It is absorbed quickly, so most people won't even notice it being absorbed as it happens quite fast.

Hydration vs. Oil: Given that this is powered by the thermal water from Avène, this is of course one product where hydration is of course the more predominant sensation. I learned from their events that the archaic bacteria activated by the extreme conditions the water goes through, as well as the smaller crystal sizes of minerals in it, make the water nourishing. This doesn't feel greasy as this doesn't usually have heavyweights like shea butter or any kind of moisturizing oil.

Value For Money: This is Php1275 for a 50mL tube, and can be found in leading Watsons outlets. If you're looking for something truly hydrating, this is definitely a good choice. Avène may be pricey, but I understand that for people with sensitive skin, comfort and health are of utmost importance. So for those who are looking for something that will truly soothe sensitive and troubled skin, this is a good brand to try.

Overall Feedback: This is a lovely moisturizer as it has a very moist and hydrating texture. The light texture also makes it a good choice for the hot Philippine climate. For people who have sensitive skin, this is definitely a good choice.

This is more or less how big the tube is:

And this is how DEFI technology works! You have to squeeze the tube a bit tightly so that this ring panel will be lifted and product would be released.

But the moment you let go, the ring panel goes back flatly like here:

And when you're not pressing the tube, it is 100% flat. There is obviously no way to return any product back inside, which makes it very hygienic. It's nearly impossible to introduce bacteria with this kind of packaging.

This is a big leap compared to other products which still have a traditional hole with a seal on it.
