AVON True Color Lipstick (I12-Hot Pink) Review

AVON True Color Lipstick
is AVON's nourishing release into the lipstick market, as the formulation boasts having Vitamin E, shea butter, and arctic berry. This is also an ideal choice for people on the go as it's SPF15. The colors are universally flattering and wearable, also making it an ideal gift choice. This is the review for the shade I12-Hot Pink

Overall Feedback:
AVON True Color Lipsticks are perfect for those who are starting out with makeup, as the colors are wearable, the texture is really comfortable, and the pigmentation is not too dark so as not to startle the makeup starter.

This lipstick behaves a lot like lip balm texture-wise, which makes it really nice to use for those who have extremely dry lips like me. I like how it's not hot nor heavy, is relatively thin and wispy, and has no annoying powder sensation at all. Like a lip balm, there's also no annoying sticky feel. It just moves and glides smoothly, and keeps lips feeling supple. It's definitely a good choice for people who want lipstick but don't want the texture of a lipstick per se.

With a satin finish and translucent shades, this really will work perfectly for those who are trying to nail no-makeup makeup looks. This is also good for those who don't want to go overboard, or for those trying to just have a subtle pop of color for work or school. Sometimes, when a lipstick is too matte, it ends up being too conspicuous, but this one just blends in seamlessly with the wearer's overall look.

As for shade selection, there are plenty of wearable everyday shades from this collection. They didn't have any of the crazy blues or greys with this collection. Everything is red or plum based, and lots of mauves and pinks to choose from as well. I'd recommend buying really differing shades from this collection, as some shades go on sheerly that two similar-looking shades won't really have any substantial differences when worn.

The only downside to this is that it really doesn't last long, and will really need to be retouched often several times throughout the day, like a lip balm. It really does come with all the comforts and benefits of lip balms, but also the downsides.

At Php379 for 3.5g, it's technically in the middle, as most other lipsticks of similar brands are usually at 3.2-4.2g for similar pricing. However, of all mass brands these days, only AVON is incorporating corals into the color spectrum of their lipsticks, and they bring in shades that other brands will not bring in (as these brands want to play safe). AVON is also the only mass brand I can think of that still releases satin finish textures and semi-translucent opacities in an over-saturated opaque matte lip industry, so they're able to serve a lot of underserved consumers. In general, AVON is the kind of brand that's good to explore if you're looking for good quality products with drugstore pricing, but want something else than what drugstore brands are actually offering.
