Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss (62-Charmer) Review

Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss
is all about super-saturated shades in a lacquered shine, for bold and unapologetic looks. Compared to most glosses out there, this is notably very opaque, making it a very good final touch to define any look. This review is for the shade 62-Charmer

Overall Feedback:
Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer is the perfect choice for those who grew up in the era when lip glosses were huge, but don't want to shell out for them so much anymore. The beauty industry went from being all about gloss, to all about matte, and basically, now it's really just all about whatever the user feels comfortable with. The 'trend' lies with more and more unusual colors brands are churning out. With that said, with gloss making a resurgence, but probably not being the next 'it' item again anytime soon, this is the best choice for something of good enough quality and affordable pricing.

The color payoff of these glosses is intense, and it can easily cover up your actual lip color without much effort. This makes it great for really cultivating different looks, as most glosses in the market are too sheer and are just varying levels of tinted pink. With the opacity of these glosses, it's really possible to achieve a strong look with the darker shades.

The texture is still sticky, like most traditional lip glosses, but somehow it's flexible and forgiving enough even for people with dry lips like me. It's not too thick so as to cause the wearer to have a weird aftertaste at the back of the throat, but there are definitely a lot of runnier glosses in the market these days. It moves a lot, and therefore you'd need to check on the mirror often should it bunch up to one side or something. It also doesn't last so long, and one will really need to retouch with this throughout the day.

At $7.99 for 5.0mL, it's affordable enough compared to a lot of other glosses in the $20's and $30s ranges. It's good enough to function for most looks, but also cheap enough that it doesn't hurt to forego this should the gloss trend die down again soon.
