Silkygirl OMG! Powder Matte Lipcolor Lipstick (05-Rosewood) Review |
Silkygirl OMG! Powder Matte Lipcolor Lipstick is designed to glide smoothly with a velvety finish. The brand also promises comfortable wear thanks to its powder-light formulation and Avocado Oil, Chamomile and Aloe Vera extract to protect, soothe and moisturize lips. This comes in a unique click-to-open casing. This review is for the shade 05-Rosewood.

Overall Feedback:
Silkygirl OMG! Powder Matte Lipcolor Lipstick is the ideal choice for those who like powdery lipsticks but want lipsticks that go on thinly.
I say this because this has an expectedly (from the name) powdery texture, but it's not as thick and buttery as other powder matte formulations out there. The result is a lipstick that feels lightweight on the lips and has no hot feeling whatsoever. This is creamy and glides on smoothly, so it doesn't feel dry and doesn't skid whilst being applied. It moves around a lot, so expect this to transfer onto mugs as you drink.
This feels like a matte lip balm, which is why I find this comfortable enough to wear alone. There's no sticky feeling at all. Knowing that this is Silkygirl, a Southeast Asian brand, there is a big chance that this was really formulated with the goal of making a lipstick that's not sticky, as most Southeast Asians will commute in the heat to work or school. Stickiness is usually a deal-breaker for the SEA market, as hair and pollution particulates can feel really annoying on the lips.
The pigmentation is good enough for mostly mauve and nude shades that go on thinly. But these are not as intense as other Silkygirl offerings, or some other matte offerings in the market. The color payoff is also good enough, as there is little deviation between what's on the tube and how it looks like on the lips.
I really like the color selection, as it was selected with Southeast Asian skin tones in mind. The mauves and nudes are also the kinds to actually be on-trend in the SEA market. Some nudes from the US tend to be too pale, and there is often a focus on red, while we usually focus on medium nudes, browns, and mauves in the SEA region.
The only downside is that since this is a thin formula that's soft and moves around a lot, it also doesn't last long. One will need to reapply every few hours or so. This will really need a retouch after each meal, and after several drinks or so.
At Php350 for 3.5g, it's more or less the right price for the usual drugstore lipstick. It's the standard size of lipstick that most people will probably take a year or so to use up. I recommend this for those who are looking for creamy powder matte formulations but do not want something hot and heavy.
