NYX Butter Gloss (Peaches and Cream-BLG03) Review

Step aside, MAC Lipglass! Looks like someone has taken your place!

Mean comment aside, I know a lot of you have also heard about NYX's butter gloss and how it's been becoming more and more raved about in the recent months. As to where my mean comment came from, Temptalia's readers' awards made this lip gloss win over MAC's Lipglass in 2013.

So far, this is the only tube of it I own. I don't really plan to buy other shades in the near future as I'm not really a lip gloss person, and that I just got quite a lot of lip tars recently.

Beautymaker By Kevin Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Pressed Powder Review

This is probably one of the products that'd be great as a mother's day present, because it's not often that I see pressed powders with hyaluronic acid! Too bad this seems to have already been phased out...

This is beautymaker by Kevin's pressed powder. Its promise its that it's a hydrating and luminating powder. I do agree with the hydrating part so read on!

Majolica Majorca's Little Humming Books

When I saw the Majolica Majorca booth having its Little Humming Books at buy one take one, I knew I had to jump in and get them myself!

My first choice is their Book 3, which comes with a old rose pink and golden copper eyeshadow alongside a creamy pink eyeshadow base/cream eyeshadow and a reddish lip gloss.

My second choice is supposedly book 4, but since they were already sold out, I went for book 2 instead. They have this slightly aqua blue eyeshadow with a champagne gold one, with a bronze eyeshadow base and a peachy pink lip gloss.

And they gave me this free bag for reasons I don't know why.

Recent Ben Nye Haul (June 2014)

Hooray! After many months my Ben Nye haul from the US has arrived! We ordered the stuff last December and had it shipped to our good family friend's house. Apparently they sent the stuff Last February, but for some reason, the shipping took so long that the package arrived just a week ago!

So here's the haul. We got the stuff from stagemakeuponline.com and the items were in a box. Since this isn't Ben Nye's official online shop, there weren't legit bags for the products, and what they did was to put the items in a giant plastic bag and used a sealer to make sections in the bag.

Sigma Beauty Giveaway Winnings

Hooray!!! This is my second time ever to win in a social media giveaway!!!

About a month ago I participated in Sigma's Twitter contest to promote spa glove Sunday. Everyone could enter by simply uploading a photo of their brush cleaning glove in use and using the hashtag #spagloveSunday. There were a lot of people who entered that Sunday that I didn't expect that I'd win!

So here is the brush set (I got myself a nifty Perfect Blend Kit) together with a greeting card signed by their marketing guru Amber. I was quite surprised it came in this quickly because I thought I'd see this by the end of July.

Make Up For Ever Now in TriNoma!

Hi everyone! This is another PSA post. I am aware that most people are still under the notion that Make Up For Ever is already gone from the Philippines, but the good news is that a new management outfit has taken over and has brought back the brand to Philippine soil!

And for those in the north, rejoice! MUFE is now in TriNoma. It's on 1/F, right across MAC. If you come from the Visayas side, simply look for Oki Oki to get here. if you come from the Mindanao side, simply go up the escalator and go straight, passing by Guess, Tango, Clinique, and MAC.

This post won't be wordy as I took a lot of photos of what they have so you can visualize what you'd be able to buy from the store. I didn't take note of any of the prices but did take photos of some of the price tags clearly so I guess for those who are still thinking of making a visit, you can rely on those for now.

Recent Saizen Haul (Jun 11, 2014)

I paid a visit to Saizen in TriNoma yesterday. I wasn't actually supposed to go here, but I was shopping with my best friend and I was helping her find gifts for people so we passed by Saizen to see if there was something suitable or if we could get gift ideas. It ended up to be a mini haul.

As seen above, I got myself a new pair of uber cute flip flops! My house slippers are so worn out and stinky that I was really intent on getting a new one. I was supposed to buy a pair from Cotton On but the ones they had were made of stiff plastic, so I didn't push through. I ended up getting this one because the straps were soft-- I've had countless wounds on my feet due to wearing flipflops with straps that are too hard. And the next part is because my feet are too big it's impossible to find flipflops that fit which is why I've been wearing flipflops smaller than my feet for the longest time. I just choose those with softer straps so that my feet don't get hurt.

And my other purchase is a box of cotton pads! I swear that Saizen has the cheapest cotton pads ever-- this box has 130 pads and is just Php88! I recommend this to all my fellow makeup artists.

For my makeup storage needs, I got this box. This looks exactly like this Muji box that my brother has, just 1/3 the price and less perfect. There were a lot of these in the store and they were advertised as stackable but the boxes could barely stack without falling or wobbling. But I didn't really care as I was going to use just one tier of this and the stacking problem didn't matter to me.

And last in this haul is a super cute basket. I thought that it was the perfect size for my makeup storage and that the really cute design could lend a hand in future product shoots that I just had to have it.

Dolly Wink now in the Philippines!!! (+My Current Dolly Wink Collection)

For months now, I've been trying to look for a Dolly Wink seller here in the Philippines. I asked around in some makeup artist groups in Facebook, only for very vague answers to come up. A lot of them were insisting that they saw stuff in Beauty Bar, but at the time my visits to Beauty Bar have proven futile and there was just nothing. A lot of the people's memories were from years back, I think. I think Beauty Bar did carry some of the items of the brand for a short time back then, but not now.

I was told to go to bigger branches, but there just seemed to be nothing. Even the gigantic BeautyBar TriNoma branch didn't seem to have anything.

I also tried to contact online resellers of Japanese makeup and beauty products, but I'm not sure if they're busy or if I'm not important to them but all my inquiries just didn't come up with any replies.

That's why I was so happy when I saw a Dolly Wink Philippines account on instagram. They said that they had an outlet in Shangri-la Plaza and all, but since we're surrounded with SM North, TriNoma, and the other malls nearby, we rarely visit Megamall and Shang Plaza.

For those who are encountering this brand for the first time, in a nutshell, Dolly Wink is a brand manufactures by Koji corporation, and the designer and producer behind it is Tsubasa Masuwaka. Tsubasa was a former Popteen model, and her work with the magazine launched her to stardom. Tsubasa was known for wearing lashes on the lower lashline, and at the time there were no formal brands dedicated to lower lashes that she used upper lashes on the lower lashline. Her fame, combined with demand among the gyaru community, led to such a great demand for lower lashes and great upper lashes in general that Dolly Wink was born. They're also one of the first legit eyelash brands to make the bands transparent so you can wear the falsies without eyeliner and expect a natural finish.

Other the Koji brand also comes eye talk (the pink bottle in the right), and other items in its brand such as eyelash curlers and other eye products.

This is a newer line they have called Lash Concierge, and it's also under Koji.

stila in the Philippines

Hi everyone! This isn't really a formal post whatsoever, just a post to tell you guys that there are stila products sold here in the Philippines in RusTan's department stores. This entry was borne out of me not being able to find anything online about stila in the Philippines save for some very sketchy auction websites and some news articles dated almost ten years ago. Even the store staff do not know of any Facebook page for stila Philippines...

So for those who are looking for stila in the Philippines, you needn't buy everything online and you can get your fix for most of the items here. Moreover, some of the items here may actually end up cheaper compared to the prices of online resellers because Rustan's is the official distributor/ Philippine reseller of this brand.

Stila may not ring a bell to some of you, but it's a popular US-based brand created when a group of professional makeup artists decided that they should have their own makeup line. They're popular for their waterproof eyeliner in the colors of the rainbow as well as their foundations and face products with swirls in them.

Their most pupular line is the one step line, consisting of a one step correct (color corrector and primer), one step bronze (bronzer), and one step illuminate (highlighter). I own a bottle of the one step correct which I got online for a whopping Php2450 when they just sell it locally for Php1750-1800. If you have dull skin, very reddish skin, or just need a really good primer to solve all your complexion problems, be sure to get a bottle of one step correct today.

The primer is apparently selling so well that they have no stocks right now, and even the tester bottle is already empty.

And these are their countless color pigments.

Lancome Facial and Makeover Session (June 8, 2014)

Since I became a makeup artist, I miss the feeling of being the one who'll just sit down and have everything done on me. I mean like now, everytime I do makeup on someone or myself, I'm the one who thinks of what I have to do next, what product I have to use, what time frame I have to finish the job, and so on. And when doing work on others, I stand up for hours and get to sit down for less than 15 minutes for the day.

That's why I loved the R&R session I had at Lancome's booth in Rustan's Shangi-La last Sunday. I went in for their Genifique facial as well as a makeover.

Lancome Philippines 15 Minute Makeup Look and Makeup Bag Essentials Workshop (May 30, 2014)

Hi everyone! I think a lot of you who follow me on instagram have seen photos of Lancome Philippines' gifts and whatnot, so here's the legit coverage of the event!

I attended their workshop last Friday on 15 minute makeup looks, and with it came a lot of information about their skincare. This was led by Mr. Jarwin Manoza, assistant counter manager of Lancome Philippines, with the help of their store staff. I thought that it was just about makeup, but boy the skincare routine was as long as a play! Not that I'm complaining because I am aware that skincare really is to be taken that seriously, but more of I'm glad to have known a lot about their product lines for skin.

I have Lancome products and all, but mostly makeup. I have some lip glosses, an eye pencil, and I've encountered their mascara and eyelash products. As for skincare, I only have their vintage sunblock and that's it. I say vintage because the old sunblock was pure white and made me look a step closer to being a geisha. The current formulation is now in BB cream form (if I'm not mistaken!) and now comes in skintone color.

So anyways, here are some (I mean tons) of photos from the event!

This was the traincase where they had everything. I wish I had a traincase. And I wish it had legs as strong as this trancase's!

My (Former) Blush Palette

Don't laugh at me for this. But from the time I was in makeup school until a bit recently, this was my blush palette.

This was because at the time I was still in makeup school, I wasn't really sure if I wanted to pursue makeup. At the time I still did not want to shell out on fancy magnetic palettes, but there just wasn't any other tin available for the blushes anymore as the rest of my more presentable tins went to the powders and eyeshadows. So what I did was put a magnetic sheet onto the bottom of this pencilcase and turn it into a blush case and went with it anyways.
