Tony Moly July 2014 Haul

Hooray for hauls! But no to late uploads!

Apologies if this is only up here now because I was busy with so many other blog stuff that even if I had purchased this weeks ago, it's only now I'm making a formal haul post for this.

So anyways, let's get started!

Etude House Play 101 Pencil #11 (How to Play and Review)

Hi everyone! Welcome to another episode of Playtime! This time, I'm going to show you how to play with Etude House's Play 101 Pencil #11.

This pencil, as you can see, is a neutral coral shade, and can work as eyeshadow base, as blush, and as different forms of lippies when combined with different Etude House products.

Hooray, let's get started!

Etude House Play 101 Pencil #21 (How to Play and Review)

It's playtime! I know a lot of you have been hearing of Etude House's Play 101 pencils, and Pony's tutorials on it. I really love Pony and her tutorials, but I wanted to do something in reverse of what she did. As in her tutorials are on how to do full looks relying on the pencils alone, but today, I want to show all the possibilities that I can suggest for one pencil in the colection.

So here's Etude House's Play 101 pencil #21!

In this post, I'll show how you can use it as blush, and the various things you can do with it as a lippie. One pencil goes a long way, indeed!

Before and After with L'Oréal's False Lash Butterfly Mascara

Hello again, eyelash concerned folks! When I released my tutorial awhile back on how to get larger eyes with L'Oréal's new False Lash Butterfly Mascara, questions were asked as to whether I was wearing falsies or not. I was not formally wearing falsies, but I attached some additional hairs from a pair of broken falsies to enhance the look. But that is because my tutorials involve really harsh lighting that if I were to just rely on the mascara, it wouldn't show in the tutorial. It's because of that, and definitely not because it's not a good mascara.

This time, for the curious folks out there, I want to show what the mascara can actually do (because it can do quite a lot). The mascara does a lot of work in the volume department (though not the dolly kind of volume I'm used to), and I did not want to dismiss that. So for this post, I kept the lighting ambient, but not too harsh, and I did not apply any eye product on the eye area (because I did apply foundation, concealer and powder) so that you can see the actual effects of the mascara.

Here's a collage showing from left to right the different stages of using the mascara. I have more zoomed in photos of this in the post, so don't go away!

But basically, from left to right, up to down, I go from my usual state, to having just curled eyelashes, and the last photo in the collage is after four coats of the mascara.

Beautyholic Manila Third Haul

Haul time!!! Well, this is a very very very late upload as I made this purchase late in March this year and got it early in April. Since this haul had the items I had for the giveaway, I decided not to put it up first so that the giveaway items would only be known at the time I'm already announcing it. I also kinda thought that it'd be a better idea to not hide the photos of the giveaway items as proof that I bought new items and did not clean up my own units (because I think most of you know I myself own a bottle of Ben Nye banana powder and a NAKED 3 palette).

I kinda wanted to start with the freebies so here they are! Jen sent me a Sigma E05 travel brush, a sample of Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume, and a really cute nautical design Sephora makeup pouch!

The main highlight of this haul though is my long, I mean loooooooooong awaited order of Sigma brushes. I had been asking Jen for Sigma brush sets since December last year, but since her stocks were near 0 at the time, I simply had to wait for her to reorder items again. This is the Kabuki kit and the travel edition of the Make Me Classy kit, unfortunately the Premium kit is still not yet included here as Jen didn't have stocks at the time I ordered. She only had stocks after New York IMATS this year.

And the other highlight which is a haul of its own of Urban Decay's revolution lipsticks! I used to have this rule of not buying lipsticks more than Php300, but since it's kind of a thing for a grown up lady to have her first legit lipstick, I gave this set to myself as a 20th birthday present. In general, though, I've been investing in more expensive (but better quality!) lippies this year because they look better on high resolution photos and last longer (this is important for friends and customers who'll have their makeup done!).

Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book III Review

Happy 10th Anniversary again, Majolica Majorca!

I know you've already seen my post on Little Humming Book II so it's time to follow up with book III.

For those who haven't seen the other book, this is basically a limited edition promo item to celebrate MM's 10th anniversary. It's a really small book with a music sheet to a song, a story, and 2 eyeshadows, one cream eyeshadow/eyeshadow primer and a lip gloss to go with it. This set has no applicators included.

Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book II Review

Happy 10th anniversary, Majolica Majorca!

When beauty companies reach age milestones, they usually hold sales, but with Majolica, it's not the same case. They make special items to commemorate their anniversaries, and for their 10th year (which was 2013), they made four Little Humming books. This is Little Humming Book II.

Books I, II, and III contain two eyeshadows, an eyeshadow primer, and a lip gloss. Book IV, on the other hand, is a highlighter.

Skin 79 Super+ Beblesh Balm (BB Cream) Review

I know this place has been flooded with too many lippie reviews as of late that it's time for a base makeup review! This review is on Skin 79's Super+ Beblesh Balm. It's technically a BB Cream or a Blemish Balm cream, the company just seems to want to avoid a lawsuit that they just called the product as beblesh balm (whatever beblesh means!).

I first encountered this product about four or five years ago, when BB cream was still unheard of in the Philippines. My big bottle is from China, which I got back then for 100RMB. I didn't really know much about makeup back then and I still was not a blogger so I just felt that this was a so-so thing in my so-so kit. Thankfully, today, I can now give more insights into how I feel about this product.

First is that it's noticeable as to how dewy your skin becomes with this product. Even back then, I already felt that this product made the skin look refreshed and young.

NYX Round Lipstick (Tea Rose- LSS628) Review

Back to my usual lippies! I am not exactly sure if this counts as an MLBB lipstick, but I sure am in love with this lovely coral-neon pink lipstick! This is NYX's creamy round lipstick in the shade Tea Rose. I thought of getting this because it was one of the most recommended MLBB/ daily wear shades by fellow bloggers alongside Fig and Thalia.

When I ordered this, I thought it was an MLBB shade, but when it came, I realized that it isn't necessarily that neutral enough to be considered MLBB but in general looks unnoticeably flattering on the lips.

NYX Round Lipstick (Chaos-LSS511) Review

Hooray for for red! This is NYX's Round Lipstick in Chaos. I am aware that NYX has a red lipstick that's called Snow White but I personally think that this is already a Snow White-ish shade...

This is one of those shades that kind of brings out the limitations of a beauty blogger... I mean I can swatch it and all and show how it looks like on my lips, but I can't really show how it will look like on people of other skintones... Personally I find this color quite racist in the sense that from the looks of the color it will not suit many skintones, I am just not very sure if it will not suit the medium, dark, or both medium and dark skintones...

I am always told that being fair-skinned is an advantage as a lot of lipsticks will suit me, and I guess this is one of those times when the advantage works for me as an individual but not as a beauty blogger...

NYX Round Lipstick (Very Berry-LSS577) Review

When I ordered this lipstick, I don't remember if it was Rihanna that inspired me to get this or that I just needed a berry colored lipstick in my collection...

In general my lippie collection is composed of MLBB shades and pinks, with some occassional reds, and a color like this is quite rare. Aside from me not seeing the use of colors like these in many gigs in the future, I also do think that this is the kind of color that can be achieved by mixing red lipstick with black eyeshadow, or simply buying a lip tar set and doing similar things.

L'Oréal Paris False Lash Butterfly Mascara Review

Hi everyone! L'Oréal recently sent me samples of their new False Lash Butterfly mascara and their Color Riche eyeshadow quad so that I could try it out and give you guys a rundown on what it's all about.

It no longer needs any mention that the eyelashes do a lot to make the eyes look bigger and brighter. We always correlate long, full lashes to femininity, and also to eyes that look more alive. L'Oréal's promise with this mascara is that it can help you achieve a look akin to wearing false eyelashes even when you're not wearing them.

False Lash Butterfly is not an entirely new product--it has been launched in North America and Europe prior to its Philippine launch. This is why one of the taglines in the brochure is that it's Europe's number 1 mascara that's made its way to the Philippines.

This mascara is true to its butterfly theme that it's got an asymmetrical wand akin to a butterfly wing, and the looks are all about lashes that flutter.

To join in all the fun, I made a tutorial and (according to their request), I put in an OOTD to go along with the look. This is by far my first OOTD post so this should be interesting hahaha

NYX Round Lipstick (Circe-LSS522) Review

In general I am not into nude lip colors which is why this is the only nude lippie I own, and the only one I'll probably own for life. I'll prolly just use foundation or concealer for other days I need nude lips...

This is NYX's round creamy lipstick in Circe. My main reason for choosing this is that it's so affordable (I got this for Php100 before NYX Wholesale PH had a price hike). I also feel uncomfortable in general with foundation on my lips so I figured that this isn't a bad thing overall.

liese Hair Cocktail A Review

Okay, I know I have oily hair already. I know this is the Philippines.

But there are just times when the ends of my hair are so dry despite having an oily scalp, and there are also times I need a way to keep my hair shiny and protected (somehow) after ironing. This is why I have this baby with me.

Rohto Lycee for Contacts Eye Drops Review (Holy Grail Product)

In a very rare occasion, I'll be giving review to an eye care product. I know it's not a common thing to see here on the blog given that usually I do reviews on makeup itself. However, I have long had dry eyes, and whenever I am stressed or depressed, or when weather conditions are not favorable, I get dry eye attacks. In general, this is already my condition by nature, and me wearing contact lenses just makes the problem worse.

Of course, I can also not wear lenses and all, but it affords me to make my eyes look lighter and more charming, and of course in a beauty blog or in a makeup tutorial this makes the whole aura better. Before I had this baby, all I did was simply use it shortly at home when taking photos then immediately remove it after. I did not dare to step out of the house with contact lenses because I knew that after three hours my eyes would be so dry already.

Crocs Annual Sale

Hooray for a shoe haul! A crocs shoe haul! I couldn't help myself and got five pairs of shoes last night at the annual crocs sale in Tiendesitas.

I know it sounds so lavish, but for someone like me with size 9 feet, it's virtually impossible to find good and affordable shoes in my size on a normal basis. The shoe is either cute or doesn't fit, or is ugly but does fit. Or the shoes may fit but they're extremely expensive and something I wouldn't be able to use often.

Stores are also known to not order big sizes a lot because most of the ladies are size 7, but for this sale, I can safely say that I'm the queen of the shoe sale as the size 7 ladies who are so used to having every shoe come in their size had to make do with the little stocks of size 7 shoes available. Though the shoes are in all sizes, there are more models and stocks for extremely large sizes (size 10) or the small ones (size 4-5).
