Maybelline Rosy Matte (Mat 3- Rosy Peach) Review and Swatches

Happy National Lipstick Month!!! (even I thought it was just meant to be a day but it turned into a month hahaha). Maybelline broke the internet once again when they also came up with their nudy pinks lipstick range. Say hello to Maybelline Rosy Matte! I'd say 2016 is such a strong year for Maybelline's lip division given their strong bold matte releases (Maybelline Creamy Matte and Vivid Matte), their healthy lip color release (Maybelline Lip Flush), and of course, this one. Releasing this was one of their best moves for this year as a lot of people are increasingly looking for nudy pinks, more so the ones with mauve touches. This is a good complement to the super bright electric pinks that Maybelline has released this year, because we all know that some shy away from bright pinks for fear that it's "too much" while some shy away from nudes as it might lead to too washed out of a look.

This shade is Mat 3, or Rosy Peach.

And before the actual review this is Georgina's very sexy ad for this product line!

This is how the packaging looks like when it's still sealed.

As always, this is distributed by L'OrĂ©al Philippines.

This is how it looks like without the wrapper. Too cute for my life!!!

Here are the ingredients:

So this is what is written on the bottom of the tube. True to the rosy theme, this comes in a pink metal tube with pink casing! They also have the manufacturing date indicated here.

This is what I'd call a milky mauve, or what some would call as a dusty rose or muted rose shade. This is exceptionally darker compared to the others, so this will look very pretty on morena skintones.

And seee!!!! It's soooooo cuuuteee!!! I could stare at the packaging alll daaaaay.

And this is the swatch. This is literally the MLBB lipstick of a lot of people, especially morena skintones. This is already too dark for my paleness to count as nude, but it nonetheless is a pretty shade.

On the lips it looks very pretty because it has enough of the earthy mauve-ey undertones to give a very natural look. If they made this like two shades lighter this will be my ultimate MLBB!

And this is how I look like with this!

And so here is my feedback on the different aspects:
Shade Selection: This is one in five shades of very creamy and mellow colors. I'm certain there'll be some criticism thrown at Maybelline given how close the shades are to each other. But I think the explanation is that this product line is meant to be the MLBB lipsticks of Pinays. What counts as "MLBB" (My Lips But Better) differs depending on the person you're talking to. Some people think that if the color "fades" into you, then it's MLBB. I personally consider lippies with the same color as my gums as MLBB shades. Some others consider all light colored muted rose and mauve shades to be MLBB. And to be honest, all three definitions of MLBB are what this collection is all about. So for MLBB lipsticks, this is a great collection.

Texture and Comfort: This is among the newer generations of Maybelline's lipsticks, so this behaves in a very matte manner. Since this isn't a liquid lipstick the texture is light, spreadable, and emollient in general. I wouldn't say this glides as much as Maybelline's Vivid Mattes, though. Of course Maybelline's lip balms will be more comfortable, but this is comfy enough for a matte formulation.

Color Payoff: What you see is what you get in terms of when you look at the tube and actually use the product. Since this is very creamy, this will really be very opaque and will be able to cover up whatever your default lip color is. I could use a lip tint and have very reddish lips, but the moment I put this on all the red will disappear and I'd have a creamy color on my lips.

Longevity: This behaves a lot like the current Maybelline lipstick formulations, and will last 2-4 hours on average depending on activities. In terms of whether this will leave a tint or not, this will not leave a tint in general as the colors are too mellow and creamy to do so.

Value for Money and Price: This retails for Php299 a pop in Maybelline counters nationwide, but keep your eyes open for flash sales and discounts because you never know!!! Each tube is 0.13 oz, or 3.9g. In general this is the usual size of lipstick so I don't have any comments over the amount I'm getting. I personally love pinkish and mellow tones, which is why I really see myself buying these lipsticks and buying replacements if need be.

  1. Maybelline never fails to amaze me. That's the only thing that I can say the moment I use Rosy Peach.
