BLK Cosmetics Sweet Lip Duo Lip Balm and Lip Scrub (Tulip) Review |
BLK Cosmetics Sweet Lip Duo Lip Balm and Lip Scrub is a practical pair for the new normal. With a lip scrub and a lip balm rolled into one tub, this will come in handy for all those who are suffering from mask-wearing lip dryness. This review is for the shade Tulip.

Overall Feedback:
BLK Cosmetics Sweet Lip Duo was made for the new normal, even though the brand didn't realize it at the time! This was launched in March 2019 as part of BLK Cosmetics' K-Beauty collection K-Drama sub-collection. This wasn't the most noticed item at the time, as people were more preoccupied with the cheek paints and by the bigger lip tints. But fast forward to now, with a pandemic ongoing, this is actually ideal for this entire situation.
This has a colored lip balm and a lip scrub in a tub, separated in different sections. This comes with a nifty mirror as well! I like the versatility of this product as the lip balm shade is very wearable and very comfortable for all sorts of online meetings or video chats. And then the scrub is a good home remedy for all of us as mask-wearing can be very drying to the lips.
The lip balm is generally thin and lightweight, although, like most balms, there is also some slight stickiness to it. It's generally emollient and feels nourishing to the lips. However, as it goes on very thinly, I psychologically apply other balms so that it feels thick enough on my lips. But, of course, human psychology works very differently, so for those who want lip balms that feel like it's not even there, this is a good find.
The lip scrub is a sugar scrub. Relative to my other sugar scrubs, the sugar granules in this scrub are smaller and less gritty. It's both good and bad. It's bad in the sense that this is not as efficient as other sugar scrubs in physically exfoliating dry patches as it lacks grit. It's good in the sense that since the sugar granules are relatively small, they dissolve quite quickly, and the scrub seamlessly melts into an emollient balm. When I use other sugar scrubs, I usually end up wiping my lips afterward coz the grit of the undissolved sugar can feel weird after a while. With this sugar scrub, I can leave it as is as it feels balmy really quickly.
Both items can, of course, be mixed depending on your tastes. Just keep in mind that it will be thick when combined, so while it works for me, it might not work for everyone else. The colored lip balm is very pigmented, so you can also use it to color over other transparent lip balms you may own. The colored lip balm actually also works as a dewy cream blush, or it can be set with powder to be a general cheek tint. The scrub, once melted, can also be used as a base to make watery lip balms more tolerable for dry lips. This is definitely a versatile and multi-purpose product.
As this set is designed as a balm, the colors don't last so strongly, and one will need to reapply throughout the day to maintain color. Usage will also vary on how dry your lips are and how often you need to apply lip balm to keep them hydrated. I personally reapply lip balm every 30-40 minutes or so, regardless of what lip balm I am using.

At Php379 for 7.1g, it's a great product in the sense that it already has two products in one. It's a very practical item given that we're usually in masks these days and need more lip care products in general. I can actually just go on and use the colored balm on my lips and cheeks and already consider it a complete look for a video meeting or something to that sort.
