Doll Up Mari is mainly a beauty blog, so my main niche focuses on talking about beauty products, mainly makeup. In general, though, Doll Up Mari is a female lifestyle website, so my general rule is I talk about anything relevant to girls. I talk about clothes, gadgets, and whatever I find relevant to female lifestyle. I have a food blog so I channel food specific posts there.
The formats I usually post are reviews, tutorials, unboxings, and hauls. I publish press releases as “news” and do listicals from time to time.
I DO NOT review whitening products anymore, and will also not review slimming products. I use hard gel on my nails (as in the 3D sculpting gel that needs a lamp, not just gel polish or gel-like regular polish), so I am ineligible to review regular nail polishes. If you’re thinking of sending a nail product over, kindly consult with me first so I can see if it’s compatible with my 3D gel system.
I no longer review facials in general, and for salons, I no longer review salon chains with fewer than 5 branches and less than 1 year in the industry.
On What Not To Send:
This applies to everyone, not just me. If you are working with a blogger, please use the opportunity to showcase the newest and best things your brand can offer. Please have the decency to not hold an event or send out items just to get rid of slow moving/antiquated/phased out/expiring stock.
On Timelines of Work:
I have a job, and I’m still studying, so as such, my blogging is more or less my sideline or hobby right now. I never settle for anything but the highest quality content I can give, but high quality content takes time. As such, if sending items over, please send over an accompanying press release so I can publish that immediately (within the day or next few days following receipt). Please also expect a 3 week-3 month time frame for detailed mileage over your brand to come out.
Please be informed that for those who strictly require to see reviews and posts within a week, I do charge an expediting fee depending on the scope of work. Kindly inform me of dates and deadlines before the work begins.
On Creativity:
I exercise full creative autonomy on my blog, and I do not accept any blogging projects wherein my output will be subject to approval and revisions. While I do accept requests for creative outputs or creative takes to a blog post, all of this must be raised and agreed upon before the collaboration begins. To prevent any ill feelings, please only work with me if a client/brand/project suits my art style. In general, blogging is like getting a tattoo. See first if the art style of the artist (based on past works) suits your vision before transacting.
On Edits:
I edit out clerical errors (e.g. price, weight of product, spelling or product/brand) but will never edit any of my opinions towards a brand or product, unless I personally find it important to point out. Edits will be pointed out. I will also not add any information to an already published post unless the missing piece of information is integral to the blog post. I will consequently not take out any information I have put in regardless of whether it’s nice or not nice to hear.
“Sharing” my post means sharing links to my blog or YouTube post, and using the default preview that Facebook or Twitter may generate. Sharing is allowed and is highly appreciated.
But, please be informed that my blog and YouTube channel employ a strict “NO HARVESTING” clause for all projects without financial remuneration. “Harvesting” means taking photos and text off my blog or downloading videos off of my channel for reupload on whatever channels of the brand, and is strictly prohibited. Embedding my YouTube videos is OK, but downloading my videos then reposting them elsewhere is strictly prohibited.
I only allow full harvesting for projects with financial remuneration and with agreements before the collaboration begins. If in doubt, please feel free to contact me.
Instagram regrams are OK, but please tag me. If regramming my Instagram post, cropping off/blurring/photoshopping off my watermark is strictly prohibited.
