I’m really excited to review 3CE’s Mood Recipe Lip Color Mini Kit as the colors are just soooo pretty. I’ve been crushing on the shades for the longest time!!! While there are plenty of nude shades available here in malls, most are leaning on mauves and dusty rose browns. It’s unique to be seeing a set like this filled with autumn-inspired ochre and sienna shades. Without further ado here we go!
Shade Selection: The five shades perfectly sum up the beauty of autumn, and I super like the cohesion. I am also pleased that they came up with a collection that wasn’t too pink, because while I love pinkish nude shades, there is a sophistication that only truly neutral nude shades can bring. I totally see myself using most of the shades every single day.
Color Payoff and Pigmentation: The formula barely moves, and the lipstick is “harder” than usual lipsticks, so it takes noticeable effort to get the lipstick to fully color the lips. However, once it’s applied, the color is really really pigmented, deep, and rich. You can really see the difference with the sienna shades in this set, as you’ll really see that your lips bear no trace of pinkness once applied.
Texture: The texture is somehow like a matte MAC lipstick, with it bearing a lightweight wispy texture, and being powdery. It doesn’t glide on as easily as advertised, but I appreciate that because it doesn’t move around a lot, it stays put well. It’s drier and “harder” than most drugstore lipsticks these days (that compete a lot on creating softer and softer lipsticks), and as it’s truly matte, it does have a tendency to amplify the cracks and dry patches on the lips. The overall look is very sophisticated, but for best results, you’d need to use this on lips that have had lip balm applied beforehand.
Comfort: This doesn’t feel thick nor hot on the lips, which I liked a lot. It’s really light that you won’t feel it’s there. It doesn’t feel sticky, and has no bothersome nor annoying sensation. But as the texture is a bit dry, there is also this feeling of wanting to use lip balm when you smack your lips or rub it.
Longevity: As it stays put quite well, assuming you’re not eating or drinking a lot, this can last for at least half a day. I tried bathing, brushing my teeth, and flossing, and not a lot of product wore off.
Value For Money: The lipstick set is Php2430 at Charis. Each mini lipstick is 1.3g, while the full sized one is 3.5g. If you will really compute price per gram, it will of course be cheaper to get the full sized ones. However, I really like the value for money this mini set is offering as it has five shades already in it. Lipstick is one of those items wherein we don’t really need too much of a particular lipstick as we own a lot of them. For me, the mini lipsticks are already enough to last the usual girl quite a long time. One would need to use one lipstick in this set for several weeks straight to use it up––we all know doesn’t happen as we all have tons of lipsticks and will still buy more and more…
Overall Feedback: Overall I liked the concept of having the prettiest autumn shades summed up in a very portable and practical set. I love the shades, and I love how small each lipstick is. Realistically, if I can have more shades without spending as much as I would’ve, why not, right? To add, the small size makes the lipsticks really easy to add in any makeup pouch. Texture wise, I have very dry lips so I will be honest that the texture is working a bit against me, but the shades are just so pretty and sophisticated that I’ll just religiously stick to applying more lip balm to make it work.
