Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara Review

A new mascara review! I haven't reviewed a mascara for quite some time, as I've been focused primarily on lip products as of late. So it's refreshing for me to do a review of Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara. This mascara is focused on giving lashes length, which is a refreshing addition to Maybelline's roster of mascaras that predominantly address volume. This has been at Amazon for quite some time now, and it will officially be launched at Lazada on June 22, 2020 for SRP399, but you can add to cart now!

Before everything, I just wanna share that I roadtested this mascara against a DIY home lash lifting kit, and here's the video!

Here's my feedback:

Wand Style: This has a barbell shaped wand. The goal for this wand design was to create a wand that could snugly "hug" the lashes while application is ongoing to give good volume, but at the same time, for the brush fibers to properly "sweep" the excess from the lashes. The design is also to help with the lengthening goals of this mascara. HyperCurl has a rounded C wand, Lash Sensational has a tidal wave-shaped wand, while The Magnum has a flat C wand.

Texture: This mascara is in the middle of mousse and liquid. It's not runny so as to smudge everywhere, but it's also not as thick as other Maybelline mascara formulations. Perhaps the more lightweight formula is so that it can lengthen lashes, unlike volume mascaras which need to focus on fattening the roots of the lashes to create an effect of volume.

Effect: This gives a very good illusion of lengthened lashes, and really is comparable to a lash lift. It doesn't "fatten" the lashes like other mascaras, which sort of helps to give it a very natural effect. From afar, lashes look fluttery and lifted, but look so natural that it's like mascara was not even applied at all.

Curl Upkeep: This is not as intense as other Maybelline mascaras in curl upkeep, I'm sorry to say. It's got a really beautiful effect and all, but this will start to not be at 100% curl status after about 3-4 hours or so, and will subtly droop as the day goes further. I find this to be designed more for everyday outings and errands, not for crazy shoot days or long evenings.

Longevity: In terms of keeping lashes looking long and volumized, it will do so the entire time you have it on. But as I've mentioned, in terms of curl upkeep, this will slowly droop throughout the day. It's not so bad, but after getting used to other Maybelline mascaras which can stay curled until the end of the world, this is a noticeable contrast. This is waterproof, but is easier to remove than other Maybelline mascaras, perhaps as it goes on more thinly than the others.

Value For Money: At Php399 for each tube, it's really affordable as its effects can be likened to professional lash lifting services. When I had lash lifting done at Strokes, I paid more than Php2000. While the results were pretty for 6 weeks, if you do the math, Php399 for a mascara that will last about 24 weeks with daily use is much cheaper than a lifting service of Php2500 for 6 weeks. I'd spend Php10,000 already just to have my lashes pretty for 24 weeks if I were to go to the lash salon every 6 weeks!

Overall Feedback: This mascara fits right into my lifestyle and tastes, which is why I like it a lot. I have lashes that are already a bit long, but just need the right lift and a little more length to look drastically prettier. I use mascara for errands days and short events in general, and will use false eyelashes for special occasions, so I don't mind that this is not as curl keeping as other Maybelline mascaras. Seeing the results and on myself, I am really impressed with this mascara.

No Lash Lift VS. DIY Lash Lifted Lashes:
There isn't much of a different save for a little curling on the treated side. I found it really counterproductive to use up so much time and energy and to achieve mediocre results. It's really much better to either get a professional lash lift or use this mascara instead.

No Lash Lift Curled Lashes VS. DIY Lash Lifted Lashes:
The curl from an eyelash curler actually gave more lift than the lash lifting kit.

Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift VS. Lash Lifted Lashes:
Y'all can see how drastic the difference is! This lash lifting kit doesn't have lash gloss with it, which is why the lash lifted lashes don't look volumized nor defined. But even if it did have lash gloss, I don't know if I could achieve results as good as that of the mascara. The lash lifting kit took 30-40 minutes for all the prep and procedures, whereas the mascara took less than 3 minutes.

Professional Lash Lift VS. Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift:
I had Keralift at Strokes done last year, and I really loved that service. I myself was shocked to see that the results of this mascara look so similar to that of the professionally done lash lift I had! Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift really gives a wispy, extended effect that looks nearly indistinguishable from professionally done lash lifts. If I removed the labels, I think there'd be people who would actually not be able to distinguish between the two anymore. I only know personally because I was the one who took these photos hahaha.

Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift VS. Maybelline HyperCurl:
Just to add more dimension to my comparisons, here's how it fares against HyperCurl. If you will look closely, the Falsies Lash Lift side is longer than the HyperCurl side. But the Hypercurl side's curl is "closer" to the lash line, meaning the curl is more "stable." The Falsies Lash Lift side is thin and wispy, while the HyperCurl side is denser and has more mascara concentration near the roots.
