Painting the Town Red... este... Baking the cake Red

We were recently so happy to have received a red velvet cake from one of mom's good friends. It was as a belated present for momma's birthday last May 20, and even if the cake was for her I was the first one to dig in! Karen's Kitchen cakes are just so delectable. <3

Makeup Design Academy Photography Makeup Day

It was an interesting day at makeup school because we discussed photography makeup. To show the difference in techniques on what to do for colored and black and white photography, my teacher demonstrated the techniques for colored photos on the right side of the model's face, and black and white photography techniques on the left side of the face. This is the model in normal settings...

Bonding with Pat (Makeup Design Academy Day ???)

This is a photo of me goofing off with one of my best pals, Pat. We haven't met in ages! I so totally miss this girl! She went with me to makeup school as my model for the day, and actually, I was talking and chatting with her more than doing the actual makeup. Meheheheheh. Anyways, here are some of the photos from my bonding with Pat.

Top 10 Minor Tsinoy Problems

So in my previous post I focused on heavier problems that Tsinoys today face. But today, Im'ma go to the lighter side of things and put in the top 10 minor problems of Tsinoys. This is meant to be a joke.

Why I Haven't Been Beauty Blogging Lately

This is the life cycle of the cookie, sans a photo of the cookie going into the tummy...

Lovin' My Avocados

So these are avocados from our tree. I turn them into ice cream. Woo hoo! We have four trees as far as I know, and one of them is gay. Gay because it's confused on whether it should fruit or not (unlike a 'girl' tree which bears fruit and a 'boy' tree which never bears fruit), it produces less than 10 pieces of fruit per annum and then stops. Ha ha but in no way am I being homophobic here.

Top 10 Young Tsinoy Problems

You know you're Chinese when your birthday party guests wear red. And being monochromatic is a no-no: no pinks, no fuschia, no maroon, just red. Menstrual red. And I think that's only the tip of the iceberg in all the quirky things Tsinoys are known for. Being a Tsinoy, growing up with Tsinoys and attending Tsinoy schools for most of my life, this is a list of the top 10 problems/quirky stuff I notice in Tsinoy families. Not everything applies to me, but some just inevitably do. And by writing this I'm not unproud of being Tsinoy, I'm just itching to point some things out. Ha ha ha. Keep reading, okay?

WARNING: I'm an exaggerated writer, and not all problems written here necessarily apply to every single Tsinoy family.

My Homemade Avocado Ice Cream

Hee hee, this isn't really a serious or legit blog post. I just wanna brag about my homemade avocado ice cream. It's made of avocados from our tree so I know that the main ingredient is all natural and all organic! The recipe itself (which I got from David Lebovitz's book) is also about 70% avocado, with the cream and sugar part just being a small fraction of the formula. It tastes like avocado even if there's no artificial flavoring, and the color is so vivid even without color additives! Yay me!

Haha, I'm done bragging now.

Love,

How To Salvage Your Broken Eyeshadows and Pressed Powders

It's a nightmare for anyone who owns make up, but one time or another, it is bound to inevitably happen.

Yes, anyone can suffer from a broken eyeshadow palette. No matter how expensive the eyeshadow is, a bad fall can make it break; the same goes for pressed powders. It's definitely frustrating especially if the palette is new or beloved or both. So today, I'll be showing you how to salvage broken eyeshadows back into functionality.

My First Ever Brow Lounge Experience

Brow Lounge just recently opened at SM North Annex building (they told me that they had just been opened for 6 days) and I was one of the first to try it out in our area.

As for the people in the photo, I'm not related to them hahaha...

My Custom Made, Budget Friendly, DIY Magnetic Palette

To give a brief summary, people got into using magnetic palettes because individual eyeshadows or whatever make up item (in individual containers) have become too cumbersome to handle especially for travel-- yeah imagine yourself bringing a train case just for your weekend trip to Bali... Ha ha ha ha ha.

Okay, exaggeration aside, sometimes cosmetics just occupy too much space and it's unreasonable. The eyeshadow pot itself is probably just as big as a fat Haw Flake, and a foundation or powder pot is probably just as big as the priest's ostia (did I spell that right???) in Sunday mass. But the space that the whole piece of cosmetic occupies is probably even bigger than what a bon bon occupies (for eyeshadow) or larger than what a Laughing Cow cheese wheel occupies (for powders and eyeshadow).

So that's why magnetic palettes got into beauty circles. It may be hard work to de-pot, but it'll definitely pay off in convenience and space! I'll be talking about my palette in detail after the jump.

Camille Ocampo's Creme Brulee Cake

Yeah I need to pretend like I'm a Victoria's Secret model with all the clutter in our house because only so rarely will you find a cake so decadent. It's so decadent that me who never goes to places beyond 10 minutes travel time from our house took the 30 minute effort to get to Valle Verde 2 just to get the cake, and that my brother who always give uber neutral comments on food sang his praises over this cake. I'm not sure if a lot of people know it already but I'll be talking about Camille Ocampo's creme brulee cake after the jump.
