EB Advance Vinyl Lip Gloss Review

EB Advance Vinyl Lip Gloss is designed to provide lasting shine for plump looking lips. This can be used on bare lips or as a topper, and on other parts of the face. This can be built from a slight sheen to a high shine finish. I'm reviewing the lone shade for this product.

Overall Feedback:
EB Advance Vinyl Lip Gloss is a nod to the general resurgence of 90's trends in recent years. As a child, I remember every beauty look being about pouty, glossy lips. Most brands came up with fun scented glosses, and they were all so thick and goopy and sticky, but we all used them extensively anyways. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, we saw glosses disappear. Everything was matte, and actually, until now, our entire beauty market is still strongly dominated by matte finishes. Tints are probably the only major non-matte item that rose to phenomenal prevalence in recent years.

The texture of this gloss is a good adaptation to the Filipino lifestyle. It's thin, runny, and with no sticky feel. There's also no rancid, greasy taste when you accidentally lick it. Even when you pile it on thickly, there's no greasy feel that somehow makes it to the back of your throat after a while, as is the case with most other glosses. Since it's not sticky at all, it's also not the end of the world if your hair accidentally sticks to the gloss. It's a very comfortable gloss to use, and thankfully not the type of the gloss to magically suck all the dust and pollution from the air. I can't be the only one who gets annoyed whenever that happens!

However, since it's so thin and wispy, it really doesn't last for a long time on the lips. Since it's quite runny, it will have the tendency to thin out quite quickly, especially if you have the mannerism of puckering often. This is an item that I think is more of a selfie helper to make your lips look plumper in photos, or to create a certain eye or lip look, but this is not the type of gloss you'd apply and expect to last the whole day. Since this is a very comfortable gloss, I don't mind reapplying several times throughout the day, rather than using a thick and heavy gloss. To add, since the main ingredient is refined mineral oil, this gloss also works somewhat like lip balm, making it tolerable for those with dry lips.

Since this is transparent, it works very well as a topper. This can also be used on the eyelids or cheeks for high shine looks. While it's coral red in the tube, the coral red coloring doesn't translate at all when applied, so it will not interfere with the color of whatever you want to top it over. For those who do not have dry lips, this actually looks cute alone. But for someone like me with very dry lips, often with dry patches and colored patches (when I wear lip tint or colored balm, color pigments always stay on the dry patches and don't get removed until the dry skin gets sloughed off), I can't wear this alone.

I like the sleek packaging and the nice approach to make it coral red. It's among the list of products that are already so satisfying to look at just from presentation alone. I also like that since the product is so plain and basic, I feel like I can use this as a mixing medium for various editorial looks. This can be added to eyeshadow pigments for a high shine approach, or to glitters to add another dimension of sparkle.

At Php125 for 8mL, it's a very very generous amount of product for the price. Most brands that have been making comebacks with glosses are higher-end brands, and not everything is a practical purchase as most comeback glosses by other brands are still heavy and sticky.  I appreciate the brand's approach to make a lip gloss that's very affordable, versatile and multi-purpose, and truly comfortable to use in the Philippines. This is probably not the kind of product most people would reach for, as most people still use matte finishes for everything, but it definitely makes sense to have something like this in your vanity just in case.
