Ah, when will this pandemic end? We really will never know. It’s very stressful to think about the slow vaccination rate, the risk of more variants, the risk of surges. I was told by my shrink to not watch more than an hour of news a day because in this pandemic climate, and with a lot of political turmoil, it just gets to us. Doing makeup and shooting Instagram layouts have been helping to distract me from the dire situation of things right now, and I think that’s how it is for a lot of people. AVON Simply Pretty has an extensive roster of easy-to-use products so we can take it easy in these very hard times, whether it be putting on a quick makeup look for online meetings, or shooting content. And by shooting content, it can be as simple as selfies! It doesn’t have to be the studio layouts I do for Instagram.

Okay, let’s go ahead and check out the items!

Face

Simply Pretty Sunset Dreams Pressed Powder (Php149 for 10g) contains licorice extract to get rid of shine and gentle milk protein to brighten dull skin. This can be used to set foundation, or used on its own. There are lots of powders in the market, but the nice one about this is that this is dermatologist-tested (and clinically tested), and non-comedogenic. Plus, it’s SPF14! AVON also prides itself in a formulation made for Asian users.

Eyes

For the eye products, they have quite a lot of nifty items that have caught my eye (no pun intended hehe).

First is this Simply Pretty Kohl Eyeliner and Eyeshadow Duo (Php199 each)! This has an eyeliner crayon, and then a liquid eyeshadow with a doe-foot applicator. I don’t actually see myself using the eyeliner as eyeliner, but instead as a primer for a smoky look, whether with these eyeshadows or other eyeshadows. As for these liquid eyeshadows, these can be used alone, or as a shimmer color for the lid area for a cut crease look. I like how the format and packaging are so simple, but I can already think of so many uses!

AVON Simply Pretty Kohl Eyeliner and Eyeshadow Duo

AVON has also adapted to the bushy brows trend with Simply Pretty Brow Gel Mascara (Php149 for 12mL). I use mascara (as in lash mascara) on my brows like what I’ve seen on a lot of Thai tutorials to keep the lashes raised. These days, I use brow powder to define the shape of my brows, and then I use mascara to add volume to the brow hairs and to lift the hairs up.

We’ve also been seeing the resurgence of jewel-toned eyeshadow looks as of late, so it makes sense for AVON to release Simply Pretty Rollerball Eyeshadow (Php139 per tube). Karat Rose is this warm pinkish red shade, while Ultra Violet, as its name, is a medium-toned violet. Rollerball packaging can help to prevent fallout while applying shimmery eyeshadows, so I find this packaging idea to be ideal especially for makeup beginners. The colors are also so cute! Most office workers are no longer meeting clients face to face anyway, so a little drama on the eyeshadow won’t hurt~

Lips

As early as now, I already wanna talk about Christmas gifts, and I think that these Simply Pretty Sunset Dreams Matte Lipsticks (Php199 each) would work as great stocking stuffers because it’s impossible for anyone to own just one lipstick! I have yet to see someone complain about receiving lipsticks… I mean, I’m sure everyone else has this insatiable thirst to own lipsticks in all the hex codes!!!

Simply Pretty has so many lipstick shades to choose from, but for those who are into peach-toned shades, this is a good collection to choose a shade from.

Since we’re all at home anyways, it doesn’t matter that these Simply Pretty Lipstick Duos are too long for many pouches, what matters is we get two shades in one product! This is also something I’d recommend for gifts because it’s a great way to make sure that the recipient will like something about the gift in the case that you’re not too sure about the shade preferences of the recipient. If they don’t like one side, maybe they’ll like the shade on the other side, or the resulting shade if the colors of both sides are ixed.
