Silkygirl never fails to impress with all its releases created with the Southeast Asian user in mind. Their releases always take into consideration the skin tones of Southeast Asians, as well as the very hot and humid climates of most Southeast Asian nations. For several years now, it has been my privilege to feature their new releases for the Philippine market! This time, let’s look at their new releases for 2021.
Face Makeup
First off, they have just released Silkygirl Gen Matte Cushion Foundation SPF25 PA+++ (Php595 for 15mL), which comes with a cushion tip applicator. To dispense, you just twist the body of the tube. This has a lightweight and oil-free formulation, and just the right coverage to feel like second skin. This is also designed to keep skin hydrated, as we know that matte foundations can become patchy at times, especially when the weather is very hot. There are three shades: 01-Light, 02-Natural, and 03-Medium.
They also got the recent trends right, as there’s now Silkygirl Cool Chic Blush Stick (Php225 for 4g)! I no longer use powdered blush as much as I did years ago. I don’t know why, but I was so drawn to powder blush for many years, and as I started to prefer a dewy look, I also shifted to cream blush. I really like how cream blushes help to give dewiness and can lay on the cheeks translucently, giving a natural flush. As for these stick blushes, they come in three shades: Peach, Pink, and Tangerine.
Lip Makeup
For the lips, Silkygirl usually releases lip balms and lipsticks, plus liquid lipsticks. So this is the first official lip tint that I know of! Silkygirl MLBB Lip Tint (Php225 for 4.5g) is water-based, designed to have a lightweight feel, and contains grape extract and aloe vera extract to keep lips soft and smooth. These tints are paraben-free, fragrance-free, and carmine-free. There are five shades to choose from: Autumn, Rosy, Orchid, Nude, and Scarlet.
For Southeast Asian nations, liquid lipsticks will never go out of style due to the very humid climates. I have heard brand managers share their findings that people who commute would prefer something that isn’t sticky, as hair and dust can get onto the lips if one is to use a sticky balm or a lip gloss. I guess the demand may have even gone higher given that liquid lipsticks do not smudge under face masks. This is why I perfectly understand why they took the time to flesh out 10 flattering shades for Silkygirl Gen Matte Lip Cream (Php350 for 3.8mL). This goes on very thinly, and dries into a lightweight finish. As with other Silkygirl lip releases, the color palette is on point and will be flattering for Pinoys. I am just drowning in backlogs right now, but I do wish to review these lippies soon! These lip creams come in 10 shades: 01-Just Nude, 02-Mauve Mallow, 03-Retro Pink, 04-Crimson Love, 05-Hot Salsa, 06-Pink Dream, 07-Rose Latte, 08-Red Rebel, 09-Glam Rose, 10-Cinnamon Kiss.
Body Care
To my surprise, there is now a Silkygirl Silky Care Feminine Hygiene Wash (Php150 for 100mL) in the market! Silkygirl has long been a strong player in base makeup, color makeup, and fragrances, but it’s my first time to see them release body care products in the Philippines. After some googling, I discovered that they apparently also sell deodorants! As for these feminine washes, there are two variants: Chamomile & Lactic Acid variant and Eucalyptus & Lactic Acid variant.
And that’s a wrap! Very excited about these new releases, and I think you all are just as excited as I am. Get your Silkygirl faves at Robinsons Department Stores and Groceries, LCC Department Stores, Landmark Department Stores, and Shopee.
