Same same, but different! Welcome to the new Doll Up Mari!!!
Well, what exactly happened?
I changed hosts and finally made the move from Blogspot to a self-hosted WordPress site! Doll Up Mari is now on WordPress! I’m not the best person to ask about these tech explanations, but the best analogy I can come up with is that being with Blogspot is like being a free bed spacer, and having a self-hosted site is sorta like having your own house and lot on the internet. So it’s not the site appearance that hanged, but also the backbone infrastructure that upgraded.
A lot of bloggers move out of Blogspot to have more business power. But I was actually not really concerned about the entire becoming professional thing. I just couldn’t stand Blogspot’s longtime stagnation anymore. There just isn’t any adaptation to the needs of today’s digital media practitioners. The user interface just has become unbearable already, and it has taken me ages to finish blog posts that wouldn’t have taken as much time before. I was already having these issues way back in November last year, but I was so busy that I didn’t entertain the idea of moving out. I was also doing a lot of videos so I just set these blog issues aside.
I also ended up having a major depressive episode slash breakdown in December 2020, and have been taking things slow since then. I’m still not back to regular programming after starting antidepressants in December, so it’s still been tricky for me to get back to the usual grind of regularly making blog posts, videos, and corresponding Instagram and Facebook posts. So yes, welcome, too, to the first post I have done in like half a year!!!
My mental health story will need its own posts, so for now I’ll keep that part brief. But yeah, I thought that since I was already gone for so long, might as well get the changes done and move into my new site before I start making posts again.
So welcome to the new Doll Up Mari! As always, I hope you find my blog informative and helpful.
